CARE COMMUNITIES

Care Communities are some of the biggest ways we serve foster, adoptive, and biological families in crisis. Care Community volunteers come alongside families to provide wrap-around support by:

• Providing weekly meals
• Supplying or sourcing practical needs (eg. bunk beds, strollers, car seats, clothing)
• Transporting children to appointments
• Mentoring children
• Coordinating volunteers to serve a family
• Becoming trained to provide respite care
• And more!

Get involved in a Care Community:
Parkside has been forming care communities since 2021.  Current communities sometimes need new members and new ones form as care communities are needed. Roles may include include team leader, family helper, respite or mentoring.  A volunteer orientation is needed and can be held in person or virtually.  Once you have been trained you do not need to be re-trained to serve again. If you’d like to learn more or would like to join a Care Community, email Stacy or Trisha.

Family Referral For A Care Community
Do you know a church family starting their fostering journey?  Are you a family considering foster care and want to know what this support could look like? Do you know a church family who is undergoing an adoption, either domestic or international?

Do you know a church family with a kinship placement?  Kinship is when a family member cares for another family member (eg. grandparents have grandchildren, aunt has nephew, parent asks close friend to care for child).

All of these are situations where a care community may be a blessing to the family and a referral may be appropriate.  We also take referrals directly from Beech Acres for families in our community.  Email Stacy or Trisha to make a family referral.

________

*We partner with a nonprofit called Promise686 and the Coalition of Care to carry out this mission of caring for vulnerable children. They help churches across the state and nation to implement successful Family Advocacy Ministries (FAMs). If you’d like to learn more about Promise686, visit promise686.org.
